Fundus fluorescein angiography is a technique for examining the circulation of the retina using a dye tracing method. This atlas is a comprehensive guide to fluorescein angiographic findings of ocular disorders. Beginning with an introduction to the technique, the following sections discuss macular disorders, vascular disorders, inflammatory disorders, heredomacular dystrophy, optic nerve disorders and tumours. Featuring more than colour images, this second edition includes a free photo CD of case studies, as well as a self test chapter for quick revision.
The text seems to meet, and even exceeds, the aim of the authors because it is far more than just an atlas of fundus angiography. Many of the more than 65 cases in the book include images with fundus autofluorescence FAF , a novel and grossly underutilized imaging procedure in the United States, and contrast the FAF images with color fundus images and the angiographic findings.
The inclusion of FAF and an occasional optical coherence tomography—OCT as well as results after contemporary treatment intravenous injections of anti-VEGF agents and steroids make this text a valuable addition to the library of all clinicians with interest in retinal disorders.

Although one could argue that the advent and widespread utilization of OCT has reduced the need and number of fluorescein angiographies FAs performed in many facilities, FA is still essential in select cases of wet age-related macula degeneration, diabetic macula edema, and vein occlusions. The book is based on the 1-day course on fluorescein angiography held annually in Berlin before the German Ophthalmological Society conference.
The book has a total of 13 contributors, 11 from Germany, one from Switzerland, and the first author from Liverpool, in the United Kingdom.
The book was originally written and published in German and later translated into English. Perhaps, the major criticism of the book is the occasional inadequate translation of technical points from German to English. Although more than a dozen writers contributed, the format and writing style is consistent throughout. The illustrations are lavish and numerous a total of and generally are of very high quality. The economical format of nine images per page limit the size of each image but rarely result in important details being obscured.
The text is concise but goes well beyond what is found in most books labeled as an Atlas. Common disorders have all been included as well as several rare disorders, but the text is not meant to be all inclusive. Although the reader may occasionally differ with an editorial comment—p.source

My favorite images in the book include the reticular pattern of AMD depicted with autofluorescence p. But this Atlas is far more than just pretty pictures.
